A Social Construction
A Social Construction is a set of pieces which reframe race as a social construction, as opposed to scientific one, pose questions about race and skin tone, and provide a context for nuanced discussions about race with all community members. Community engagements have ranged from a single exhibition or discrete visit to extended and continuing collaborations.
Over time, the project has evolved from a single interactive wall piece to include multiple exhibition pieces, a performative artists talk, a set of scripts, a community workshop, a collaborative artist book, and individual studio pieces.
