Reconstitution Readings
The Reconstitution Readings provide an opportunity for people to come together to read scripts compiled from comments received throughout the exhibitions of the Paper Bag Test. These scripts raise themes that appear across bags from multiple sites, and allow people the opportunity to experience the dissonance, and perhaps self-examination, of speaking the words of others.
I am using dissonance and peer interactions as modes of disruption, in order to reach a threshold for change. People enter from multiple vantage points, which shapes how they understand and give meaning and inflection to the scripts in radically changing ways, depending on who says what, and how they say it. The reading process evolves through conversation and re-readings. Who is allowed to say what? What do I allow myself to say? To think?
